A hiring market that ran entirely on word of mouth.
TheraLoom connects speech therapists, occupational therapists, ABA therapists, and special educators with the clinics, schools, and centres that need them across the UAE and India. Both sides were struggling to find each other.
03 / Developmental Care & Talent
The client
TheraLoom is an independent talent network for therapy, rehabilitation, special education, and developmental care roles, operating across the UAE and India. It is free for candidates, and covers roles from speech and occupational therapists to ABA therapists, RBTs, psychologists, special educators, shadow teachers, and learning support assistants.
The challenge
In developmental care, clinics and schools struggle to find qualified, correctly licensed therapists, and qualified therapists struggle to be found. Matching happened through word of mouth and general job boards that understand neither the licensing requirements nor the specialisms involved. A DHA-licensed speech therapist with autism and early intervention experience is not interchangeable with a generic healthcare CV, but a general job board treats them as the same listing. The market also carries a real trust problem in both directions: candidates do not want their CV circulated to strangers, and centres do not want to be approached by people who are not genuinely qualified.
What we changed
We built the platform around the specialisms and the trust problem rather than around a generic job-board template. Candidates submit a structured profile in two short steps, covering discipline, licence-relevant location, experience level, and the specialisms that actually matter in this field, autism, speech delay, ADHD, learning difficulties, early intervention, sensory integration, ABA, school support, parent training. Employers describe the role they need to fill in the same structured way, rather than browsing a database of people.
How it works
Employers never browse candidate profiles. They describe the role, and receive only relevant, reviewed matches. Candidates give explicit consent for their CV to be shared, and can request deletion at any time, which is what makes people willing to join at all. Organisations are verified before any candidate details reach them, using LinkedIn and Google Business Profile as confirmation that a real organisation is behind the request. Consent language and terms are built into the submission flow rather than buried in a policy page nobody reads.
The outcome
TheraLoom operates as a curated network rather than an open database, which is the only model this market will trust. Candidates join because their information is not being broadcast, and centres engage because what reaches them has been reviewed. The platform also publishes guidance on UAE licensing, DataFlow verification, and moving from India, which is how it earns attention from the people it wants on the network.
Technology
